It is also one of the longest-standing enterprises in this sector: Founded in1899 by Anselm Viegener, the company is now managed by family members in the fourth generation. Viega has developed into one of the largest manufacturers in its sector of industry: A workforce of about 3,000 produces over 16,000 different products which are manufactured at the plants in Attendorn-Ennest/Westphalia (Germany), Lennestadt-Elspe/Westphalia (Germany), Großheringen/Thuringia (Germany), Niederwinkling/Bavaria (Germany) and McPherson/Kansas (USA).

Learning as a lifelong process
Viega takes its responsibility for initial and ongoing training very seriously. The company is currently training about 200 young people in 15 different trades and careers. Since 1930, thousands have served apprenticeships at Viega, many remaining loyal to the company throughout their working lives. Viega also pursues personnel development: On numerous courses, internal and external trainers provide tuition on moderation, presentation, personal development, time management and the promotion of teams and teamwork. Viega launched a programme of seminars for customers at its own info centre back in 1980. In 1997 the systems supplier opened a seminar centre at its branch factory in Großheringen (Thuringia), followed by an additional facility in Attendorn-Ennest in 1999. Today, Viega has 12 seminar centres worldwide which welcome 20,000 seminar participants each year, primarily wholesalers, fitters, planners and students from technical colleges and other educational establishments.
