In the automotive industry, it is well known that calculations use the third and fourth digit after the comma. In close collaboration between manufacturer and suppliers, appropriate permanent optimisation programmes have become effective to keep reducing and make more cost-effective the production process of every single supplier part without allowing reductions in the quality to become acceptable.
The type of saving potential that can be achieved if these processes are regularly and, with dedication, examined in their entirety has been proven by automobile supplier ISE Innomotive Systems Europe. Within 15 years, energy consumption has been reduced by almost 40% at the headquarters in Bergneustadt with an extensive package of measures – with a turnover increase of virtually 70 percent!
The savings were achieved, among other things, through the centralisation of the compressed air supply with consequent removal of leakages, by using the “cold” pressed copper pipe system “Profipress” by system supplier Viega in place of the old steel piping network, particularly in the central compressed air station.
