In the global brand environment, Leica Microsystems is a synonym for the utmost in optical precision. The global developer and manufacturer of high-tech precision systems to analyse microstructures has an important production site in the traditional headquarters of the corporation in Wetzlar, Germany.
The quality demands on the processes in the “Optic Center” are correspondingly high, where virtually everything revolves around the product sector of microscopy. And the upset is correspondingly great if the processes focussed on the µ range are affected in the ten-storey building or delays arise because the emerging media pipe network is no longer appropriate. This is reason enough for the people responsible at Leica to now pull the ripcord and – while operations continue – successively replace the pipe networks consequently through one made from the Viega system compound.
With the experience of a professional, who had already installed Viega products in his own home, arriving at the system supplier from Attendorn was an obvious step – the supplier has the complete pipe programme (ranging from stable PE-Xc pipes to copper and galvanised steel pipes to stainless steel). In addition, in terms of the implementation, a completely unproblematic one is at least possible for the pipe networks for water, compressed air, oil and gases because the standard “Profipress” and “Profipress G” copper program (with precisely tailored sealing elements depending on the media) and the “Sanpress” stainless steel system with red brass fittings virtually supported themselves.
