Within the space of just one single week, the complete coolant system of the aluminium casting factory in Cologne’s Ford Factories had to be sealed – and it was possible thanks to the Sanpress Inox stainless steel pipework system by Viega.

A 2.5 km ring line now provides the approx. 17 die casting machines with coolant and abrasive. The biggest problem of this conversion was the aggressive ingredients of the coolant, which caused up to 10 leaks per month in the galvanised steel piping. High repair costs and material expenses together with the operational downtimes caused by the leaks made the urgent need for action clear.

However, before a new piping system was chosen, extensive tests were carried out with the coolant in the Viega laboratory. Sanpress Inox withstood all the requirements and was additionally convincing through its rapid and safe processing with cold press connection technology and the SC-Contur.

The 2.5 km ring line made of the Sanpress Inox stainless steel pipe system withstands the aggressive coolant for the aluminium die casting machines without any problems. The dirt trap under the fuel shut-off valves prevents the pipes from becoming dirty.
