Colour is coming back into the bathroom. Not in the style of the 1980s, but as colour concepts that create subtle design highlights. Viega's range of colour-matched products for the shower, bathtub and WC, for example, provides lots of possibilities for creating a warm and welcoming bathroom ambience.

It always felt like the bathrooms of the 1980s had just one key design feature: colour, and more colour. That trend has been replaced by more restrained – even minimalist – styles reflecting the expertise of the designer. Today, colour is coming back into the bathroom – though with a rather different approach: based on white, grey and also black tones, while the sanitary products are being imbued with a new expressiveness through colour. The result is a homely look echoing the more general trends in interior design.

Colour combinations featuring selected products

The trend is towards tone-in-tone effects, as well as confident individuality. Viega products, for example, provide plenty of options for stylish design. Colour-matched products presented here are the new “Advantix Cleviva” shower channel, the new WC flush plates from the “Visign for More” and “Visign for Style” ranges, and “Visign” bathtub fitting sets from the “Multiplex Trio”, “Multiplex” and “Tempoplex” series. With the “Multiplex Trio”, for example, the water flows in elegantly from the tub rim, eliminating the need for the often visually disturbing tap fitting.

The standard colours including copper, gold, champagne and anthracite as well as stainless steel allow for the creation of harmonious bathroom design concepts highlighting colour as a key theme. Custom wishes can additionally be met by a wide selection of special colours.

Whether a single colour trend sets the tone in the bathroom, or multiple colours are harmoniously combined, is then solely a matter of personal preference. The colour selection, just like the bathroom design, should however be in keeping with the overall concept. For example, lifestyle bathrooms focused on fostering a sense of well-being are currently very much on-trend among designers.
