Labs-free press connector systems

Labs-free press systems ensure everything runs smoothly
The German-based abbreviation “Labs” refers to substances which impair wetting in paint shop processes. For example, silicones can impair the even application of paint and cause pitting. For that reason, pipelines in paint shops must be kept especially clean. Viega’s production of Labs-free press connectors is subject to high demands and continual internal inspection.
A special case: the automotive industry
Demand for Labs-free products arose with the introduction of water-soluble paints in the automotive industry. For example, silicones can prevent the paint being distributed evenly on the component, resulting in visible "pitting".
Even small amounts of such paint-wetting impairment substances can have a negative effect on paint shop processes in the automotive industry. Viega’s Labs-free products provide a solution which actively prevents damage.

Strict internal and external tests to ensure maximum quality
For quality assurance, "pitting test reports" from all renowned German automotive manufacturers that are continually testing Viega products are kept on hand. They are also subject to the external controls and protocols of the automobile manufacturers, and meet all requirements.

Intended use
The ball valves of Labs-free press connector systems can be used without restriction in potable water installations:
In accordance with the German Drinking Water Ordinance
- Operating temperature ≤ 90° C
- Operating pressure ≤ 1.0 MPa (10.0 bar)
In compressed-air systems with operating pressure ≤ 1.6 MPa (16.0 bar)
In heating systems in line with DIN EN 12828
- Operating temperature ≤ 105° C
- Output ≤ 1 MW.
Usage for applications other than those described above must be agreed with the Viega Service Center.

List of media
Viega press connection technology with the Sanpress, Sanpress Inox, Profipress, Prestabo and Megapress systems has proven its value in potable water and building services installations over many years of application. It is increasingly being used in industrial systems which have special operating conditions regarding the pressure, temperature and concentration of the transported media. Careful consideration is required when choosing the pipe and sealing material. The "Fields of application for metal installation systems" information brochure, which is available to download on the right, will make this choice easier.
