Chemelot Campus

Laboratory buildings 92, 93 and 94 of the Chemelot Campus in Geleen, the Netherlands, were renovated to a design by Broekbakema architects of Rotterdam.

Visign for More sensitive for chemistry laboratories

For decades Geleen has been one of the most important centres of the chemical industry in the Netherlands. The local Chemelot Campus attracts international companies as well as top researchers and provides an ideal environment for students. The renovation of three laboratory buildings at the campus also involved replacing the sanitary facilities. For the sake of hygiene the Visign for More 100 sensitive flush plate was chosen for the toilets in combination with Viega Eco Plus pre-wall elements.

Hygienic conditions

The renovation was part of a master plan for the Chemelot Campus designed by Broekbakema architects of Rotterdam. The plan also provided for the renovation of the sanitary facilities which are located centrally in the building and finished in vivid red and orange colours. Safety is naturally paramount in the laboratories, and is in part determined by the hygienic conditions.

That’s why Viega’s Visign for More 100 sensitive flush plate was selected for the toilets. The flush plate’s touchless actuation is hygienic and offers dual-flush technology. The modern glass design impresses by its sheer elegance. Unlike other touchless systems, the glass surfaces of Visign for More flush plates are completely flat. Only two subtle three-quarter circles indicate full and partial flush. Simply waving your hand past the sensor is enough to trigger the flush.

Preventing stagnation

The Visign for More 100 sensitive also features a technology which automatically checks if the toilet is being used regularly. If the WC is not used for a while, the water in the pipes will stagnate, bringing all kinds of risks of legionella bacteria proliferating in the pipework. In this case the Visign for More sensitive series will trigger the flush automatically and in accordance with current regulations. Flush frequency and volume can be programmed by the user for even greater convenience.
