CityCenter Las Vegas

The ARIA Resort & Casino at CityCenter in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, is a AAA Five-Diamond-Award-winning resort with 4,004 guest rooms.

With a $9.2 million price tag, CityCenter in Las Vegas, Nevada, is the largest privately funded construction project in the history of the United States. Built on 76 acres along the Las Vegas Strip, the 16,797,000-square-foot resort used Viega’s Profipress and Sanpress Inox (both US standard) fittings in systems ranging from drinking and chilled water to R/O water and landscaping feeds.

Southland Industries, a mechanical systems engineering, construction and service company with campuses in California, Nevada, Virginia and Maryland, installed the Viega piping systems in the ARIA Resort & Casino at CityCenter. This is a AAA Five-Diamond-Award-winning resort with 4,004 guest rooms, 16 restaurants, 10 bars and lounges, 300,000 square feet of technologically advanced meeting space and three pools with 50 cabanas.

Viega’s press technology is the standard

Fred Morissette, a Plumbing Superintendent in the plumbing department of Southland Industries’ Las Vegas campus who worked on the project, has been in the industry for 42 years and with Southland for 16 years. He has been working with Viega press systems since 1999.

“Our standard is Viega’s press technology,” Morissette said. “We were using it long before anyone else in the USA and we use it pretty much everywhere. It’s turned out to be one of the best plumbing innovations I have had the pleasure to work with.” According to Morissette, Southland uses Viega press systems in projects including hotels, casinos, hospitals and other commercial, institutional or industrial work. For the CityCenter project, Morissette’s team installed the Profipress and Sanpress Inox systems in sizes 2" and smaller.

“The knowledge and the support that Viega provides is far above and beyond the others,” Morissette said. “It’s the way of the future. Our company has always been open to new means and methods but we do a lot of research as well. We don’t just pick something off a shelf and go with it.”
