"Slim" drinking water installation with Raxofix
At the occasion of its 25th anniversary in 2013, the social cooperative “Il Graticolato”, a living and working community for disabled people, expanded its site in San Giorgio delle Pertiche near Padua, Italy. The new Centre Paolo VI includes manufacturing facilities, a kitchen with a canteen, multi-use areas and apartments for communal living for disabled individuals in small assisted groups. Drinking water of guaranteed quality for the new “Il Graticolato” residential facility is achieved using Raxofix, the flow-optimised plastic piping system from Viega.
Maintaining drinking water quality
Designed by studio Archipolis in Padua the new sections of the Il Graticolato buildings were constructed under the direction of studio Filippi-Mazzon. They offer spacious and well-lit premises, easily accessible and usable, thus allowing immediate orientation. As with each modern building project, the drinking water system got particular attention during planning, the selection and combination of materials as well as installation. Only through the optimal protection of drinking water quality, the presence of bacteria harmful to health can be prevented. These bacteria proliferate in stagnant water and/or due to poor temperature control of the water.
Flow-optimised piping system
An important factor in preserving drinking water quality is the choice of the right piping system. The priority here was minimising the system volumes. After all, the regular exchange of water protects against contamination from stagnation. Therefore Raxofix was the installer’s choice. Thanks to its flow-optimised connectors the pressures available with this system can be optimally used to ensure a convenient drinking water supply with very "slim" sizes.
In the new building of the social cooperative “Il Graticolo”, 1,785 metres of Raxofix pipe with diameters of 50, 40, 32, 25, 20 and 16mm were installed in addition to the corresponding press connectors.
