At the Designer Outlet in Soltau it all runs smoothly, even the drinking water
It was ten years in the planning and inaugurated in 2012 and now there are even plans to double the amount of sales space: The concept of selling designer clothing at discounted prices in a premium shopping atmosphere has proved a major success in the Designer Outlet in Soltau (DOS), Germany. The same can be said of the drinking water quality in the various gastronomy areas and some 60 shops. For visitors to the DOS, access to perfect drinking water is a matter of course. However, given the numerous hygiene-critical challenges, an intelligent and comprehensive approach was required: The Viega Hygiene+ concept.
The challenge: Unclear room utilisation
As is usual with projects of this size, the DOS was almost ten years in the planning. In the meantime, new requirements had to be taken into account. And the detailed use of some of the buildings was not absolutely certain until a few weeks before the centre's official opening. As such, it was impossible to plan the intended operation of the drinking water system in detail.
The solution: Viega Hygiene+ concept
To rule out the potential risks to the drinking water quality, the Viega Hygiene+ concept was designed as follows: To avoid stagnation in the lines which would encourage microbial contamination of the water, WCs, with a flush volume of nine litres each time they are used, were positioned at the end of series installations. As such, with each flush, the entire water volume in the piping section is completely exchanged. In addition, Visign for Care flush plates with Viega Hygiene+ functionality are installed in certain sections. They flush automatically at regular intervals if not triggered manually.
Buildings with unclear or changing room utilisation are safeguarded at the end of the looped-in series installations thanks to flushing stations with Viega Hygiene+ function. They automatically recognise interruptions in use and changes in temperature and then trigger the necessary "hygiene flushing".
