Functional solutions for public toilets
The European Solidarity Centre (Polish: Europejskie Centrum Solidarności, ECS) is located at an historic site in Gdansk, Poland, and commemorates the heritage of the Polish trade union Solidarność (Solidarity). The building with an area of 25,349 m² cost more than 50 million euros. The main function of the ECS is the organisation of conferences, debates, theatre performances, film screenings and exhibitions. The building is characterized by its simple, somewhat austere design and Corten sheet metal clad walls, a reference to the components used in ship hull production.
Timeless design and durability
In the bathrooms of the ECS, numerous pre-wall elements for toilets and washbasins from the Viega Eco Plus series have been used together with Visign for Public and Visign for Style 10 flush plates. They form an integral part of the stylistic concept of the building, and at the same time guarantee durability, safety and trouble-free operation. In some toilets, special pre-wall elements with concealed traps for washbasins were used. This solution allows a wheelchair user to comfortably approach the basin – as there is no obstructing pipework underneath. Other products used in the ECS bathrooms are the efficient Advantix floor drains with elegant stainless steel grates.
