Quality-assured drinking water circulates in the 90-m-high office building
The "Exzenterhaus" in Bochum, Germany, is an exclusive address for any company: Right in the heart of the city, the striking round building, which is almost 90 metres high, rises up from an old listed high-rise bunker. In terms of its architecture and structure, the "Exzenterhaus" is anything but ordinary: A total of 15 plus 3 storeys were constructed on top of a round, listed high-rise bunker. Like cams, sections comprising five storeys are arranged obliquely in relation to each other. This creates a slim, "relaxed" silhouette. The ratio of the height of the bunker to the superstructure is precisely 1:3; each storey section corresponds exactly to the height of the visible bunker.
The height of the building is the real challenge
The challenge faced in terms of sanitation came from the height of the building with its central shaft. From the word go, the drinking water supply was designed to meet needs and ensure minimal system volumes. The main connection is diameter DN 50 and the cold water riser is tapered to DN 15. The hot water is supplied decentrally via water heaters.
The Hygiene+ concept from Viega
The proper operation of the cold water installation is ensured by Viega’s Hygiene+ concept. If there is an extended interruption in use on the office floor, proper operation is maintained via a flushing plan. As an alternative, the proper operation can be safeguarded either by retrofitting Viega’s programmable flush plates Visign for Care or flushing stations with Hygiene+ function.
