High-quality systems technology for a high-quality neighbourhood
In north-east Düsseldorf, Germany, the 'Gartenstadt Reitzenstein' is coming into being: a completely new, attractive neighbourhood with 350 detached houses and around 700 multi-floor apartments. The housing technology involved reflects the high quality of residential living: It is based on Viega systems technology – for purposes ranging from individual bathroom design to full-coverage radiant heating and cooling.
Both individual as well as economical
The challenge in respect of the high-value bathrooms was to cater for individual customer wishes within a tight time frame. This is why the general contractor, housing technology specialist Bußmann Haustechnik, relied on Viega systems technology throughout. In this case using the Viega Eco Plus pre-wall system. Project Manager Hubert Kälin explains: "With this easily assembled system we can cater for the various design requirements in the best possible way, from the planning stage to delivery to installation – from both the technological as well as the economic points of view."
Also, the connections to the over 140 WC and washbasin pre-wall elements were made using Viega technology. For cellar manifolds and risers the stainless steel Sanpress Inox piping system proved most suitable, while the Raxofix system with multilayer pipes was used for the floor distribution. In both cases with press connecting technology.
In addition, the flow-optimised Raxofix piping system allowed for smaller-sized connecting pipes – something that definitely improves drinking water quality.
Easy to install and flexible
The 'golden triangle' of safety, quality and cost-effectiveness was also very much in the planners' minds when they chose the radiant heating and cooling system to cover over 7,000 square metres and involving more than 31 kilometres of pipeline.
This requires a system that is both easy to install and flexible: Fonterra Tacker. Marc Wübbels, the installation specialist on site, puts it this way: "From the practical point of view, something like how easy it is to cut the masked insulating panels is just as good an argument in favour of this radiant heating and cooling system as the little details that make working on site so much easier."
As with the sanitary installation, the manifolds and riser pipes of the heating system also come from Viega's coordinated range, in this particular case using the Prestabo piping system.
