Viega system technology at 1,650 metres above sea level
Since the winter season 2014/2015, the Ratti Cassin refuge in the Lecco district, Italy, offers rooms which have been entirely aesthetically and technologically renovated.
The accommodation at 1,650 metres above sea level offers high standards for a targeted audience: couples, families and groups out of Lombardy who spend their weekends in the mountains. In addition to the well-furnished interiors in a combination of modern and traditional style, the guests are welcomed by the climatic comfort offered by two Viega Fonterra floor heating systems.
Floor heating systems for specific needs
Fonterra Reno, Viega’s dry installation floor heating system, was chosen for the low-ceiled rooms of the first and second floors of the refuge, as these floors have a limited maximum load. Thanks to its panels made of gypsum fibre material, the Fonterra Reno system is only 18 mm thick – and it does not require the application of additional layers of cement screed which limits the weight of the construction. In the wellness area, located on the ground floor, the installer used a Fonterra Base 15/17 system, not having the restrictions dictated by the height of the rooms or by a maximum slab load.
Shower drains for renovations
The structural specification limits of the upper floors of the refuge also influenced the choice for the shower drains. The ideal solution for the renovation was the Advantix Basic shower channel. With a constructive height of only 67 mm, it provides a drainage capacity between 0.4 and 0.6 l/s, a water column height of 25 mm to prevent bad smells as well as an easy accessibility for cleaning. The Advantix shower channels installed in the Ratti Cassin refuge are complete with Visign grates that can be customized with tiles or natural stone chosen for the whole flooring.
