A new WC facility with Steptec and Obtego for a girls' school
Girls have been taught since 1919 at the St. Josef school complex in Hanau, Germany, which has been growing for many decades. The school's sanitary facilities were to be given a visual and technical makeover in line with the smart and modern rooms behind the, in part, historic facade.
The tight schedule presented a particular challenge here: The structural renovation had to be completely finished within the six-week summer holidays. In light of the extensive nature of the work, this meant "red alert" for structural planning and realisation. After all, a total of 16 toilets and six washbasins had to be newly installed, including barrier-free WCs for pupils in wheelchairs.
Steptec: Quick and robust
This is why the quick Steptec system was chosen for the pre-wall constructions as it can be adapted directly on site. "Steptec is extremely robust and, at the same time, quicker to install than the pre-finished pre-wall systems on the market. From the double wall panels through to the cisterns, all the installation components are precisely attached with sound-insulated fastening sets." These are the arguments cited by the planning office based on numerous comparable projects.
Obtego: Quick and attractive
The issue of time also determined the selection of the interior. Conventional cladding including levelling, tiling and grouting would not have been possible within this tight schedule. The only solution was to cover the pre-wall construction with Obtego system panels. And these really were installed in no time at all – after approx. 20 man hours, the complete sanitary facility with 85 m² of pre-walls was clad.
Even the pupils were impressed by the final result: The walls in the anteroom have been fitted with large mirrors and the sanitary partitions and pre-walls have been finished in vibrant contemporary red.
