Drinking water installation in historic building
“The Palace on the Water” in Łazienki Park, Warsaw, Poland, was the summer residence of King Stanisław August. The building is one of the most outstanding examples of the neoclassical style in Poland, with its origins dating back to the 17th century. In 2013, the palace was comprehensively refurbished including the installation of a cold water system, in which Viega’s Sanpress system was used.
Reliability and durability
In historic buildings, the reliability of the drinking water installations is of particular importance. Any failure may cause inestimable damage. For this reason, the vertical and horizontal pipes in the palace’s drinking water system were fitted out with the Sanpress system consisting of pipes of corrosion-resistant stainless steel and gunmetal fittings with diameters from 22 to 54 mm. The choice was decided by the reliability, durability and the need to meet exacting hygiene parameters for drinking water.
Another factor was the quick and safe press connection technology which allows time savings of up to 50% compared to traditional methods of joining pipes. An additional safety feature is the patented SC-Contur that all Viega press connectors are equipped with. It guarantees that any joints which have inadvertently been left unpressed are immediately detected during the leak test.
