Drinking water installation with Sanpress piping system
The modern building of the linguistics faculty at Warsaw University, Poland, is more than 16 metres high with almost 11,000 m² of floor space. On four floors above and two below ground, there are lecture halls, classrooms, workspaces and library facilities.
Safe and durable
To ensure a long-term and safe operation, Viega’s Sanpress system was selected for the drinking water installation. The contractor laid the 1.5 km of stainless steel pipes with gunmetal fittings with diameters ranging from 18 to 108 mm. This is the most dependable solution when dealing with aggressive corrosive water. Gunmetal produces a protective layer on the inner surface of the steel pipes protecting them from corrosion. For the construction of the installation in the linguistics centre ferritic steel 1.4521 was used. It contains molybdenum, which increases the resistance to chlorides, which are present in high concentrations in the Water Treatment Centre of Warsaw.
Installation times are up to 50% lower
The use press connection technology instead of welding minimises the possibility of installation errors and enables time savings of up to 50% compared to welding, which was important from the point of view of the investor and the contractor. Viega’s SC-Contur enables immediate detection of joints that have been overlooked during installation during the leak test. Pressing before and after the seal maximises the mechanical strength of the connection.
