Viega honoured as a finalist for the German Sustainability Award 2024

Viega has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious German Sustainability Award in the sanitary technology category. With its product solutions, the plumbing technology manufacturer contributes to maintaining drinking water hygiene in buildings and improving energy efficiency. The winners and finalists were honoured at a gala ceremony in Düsseldorf on 23 November.
The German Sustainability Award (DNP) is Europe's largest award for environmental and social commitment. It recognises the outstanding achievements of companies that are driving the transition to a sustainable society. An independent jury of practitioners, civil society representatives, consultants and researchers selected the finalists in various sectors following a preliminary AI-assisted search.
Marius Gabriel Bucur, Chief Strategy Officer at Viega, is delighted with the award: "As a finalist, we are one of the four companies in our industry that the jury considers to have had the greatest impact on transformation this year. Our employees can be proud of that." He also congratulated Schiltach-based Hansgrohe, the first-place winner in the sanitaryware category.
The DNP aims to motivate all relevant stakeholders to drive change, network and promote partnerships. This is also Viega's aim, says Marius Bucur. Being a finalist for the German Sustainability Award is impressive proof of the company's long-term commitment in this area. This includes the development and implementation of sustainable solutions to reduce the consumption of energy and resources in buildings and Viega's role as a knowledge broker for sustainable solutions. "We want to achieve climate neutrality by 2035. To achieve this, we are continuously reducing our own energy and resource consumption and investing in the expansion of renewable energy to meet our own energy needs."

About the German Sustainability Award
The German Sustainability Award is the national award for excellence in sustainability in business, municipalities and research. With eight competitions (including the Next Economy Award for "green founders"), over 1,000 applicants and 2,000 guests at the events, the award is the largest of its kind in Europe. The award is presented by the Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis e.V. (German Sustainability Award Foundation) in cooperation with the German government, municipal umbrella organisations, business associations, civil society organisations and research institutions. The award ceremony is held at the German Sustainability Day in Düsseldorf, the most visited annual communication platform on the subject of sustainable development.
